Holy Baptism

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20

Along with Holy Communion baptism is one of two sacraments that we believe and confess as Lutherans. We believe and confess in baptism with water in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We practice both infant and adult baptism. In baptism we are received into the church, washed for the forgiveness of sins, claimed as children of God by the Spirit, joined to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and given new life by the Spirit.

"No greater jewel, therefore, can adorn our body and soul than baptism, for through it we become completely holy and blessed, which no other kind of life and no work on earth can acquire." - Martin Luther (Large Catechism)
